I felt inspired to draw some Simpsons fanart — don’t judge me, all right. Who doesn’t like the Simpsons? That’s what I thought.

"He’s not done."

I would definitely love to see Miriam fulfill a very different take on the role of Clarice should the TV show fail to get the rights to use her. Emphasis on “very different take” not just due to plot necessity but also assuming they stay far, far away from how the relationship developed in the Hannibal book.

I like the idea of doing short journal comics as an exercise to get me back to drawing daily — not to mention a way to warm myself up for other pieces I need to get to. If I can keep it up, I’ll make a sideblog for them!
Yes, I am aware I’m a stereotype.

I enjoy how every time I draw Gideon as a woman the general consensus is that she is just Eddie Izzard. which I mean, change the gender identification and… yes, essentially… I have trouble picturing anything else.

between other things, some screencap redraws with a twist!! the idea of which is what finally got me to take a crack at screencap redrawing. next time: team sassy science and probably more design tweaking.

Afternoon reblog. :)

Anonymous asked: Let us know when your donate button works, please! I've been waiting to click on that sucker since forever and now with those genderbent drawings ahsgahsahgshagha I particularly love that you kept Beverly a woman. SISTERHOOD OF SASSY SCIENCE AND FEMALE SERIAL KILLERS yessssssssss

Ahh!! Thanks so much! I’m extremely glad you’re enjoying them, they are super fun to draw and design. (There was just no question, the idea of altering Beverly was just upsetting.)

And it’s working now! Just fixed it this morning, actually. :)

Mmmmeanwhile, some WIPs! I’ve been a little backed up which means I wish I had completed things to post but until I’m through with my commissions queue, the more self-indulgent pieces will have to wait. There’s a belated Pride picture in there, as well as a mostly complete visual-aid for a post I’ll be making about drawing expressions, aaaand… well, it’ll all be finished soon. It kills me not being able to update as regularly as I’d like.

Anonymous asked: What makes you ship the characters that you ship? This is an out-of-nowhere question, but I’m curious about something. I saw your list of ships on your nsfw blog (mouth-watering blog, btw!) and I found it interesting that your ships don’t seem to have a common theme; I mean, that you truly ship the unexpected, unlike most people.

This is a great question! I had to think about this a bit and I’m still not entirely sure if I have a concise, clear answer to give, but I’ll do my best. :D

What draws me to certain ships is essentially 1) I have to love the characters (or love one of them enough to make up the difference), 2) their dynamic with each other is one that appeals to me immensely, or, lacking much canon basis, the potential for their dynamic does, 3) I can ship them together/justify the ship mentally without compromising their characterization, even if circumstantial leeway is needed… these are probably not the only factors, but they’re certainly bigger ones!

I simply can’t find myself invested in ships made up of characters I find uninteresting, which in of itself tends to mean I favor more underappreciated ships by merit of my favorite character types — it’s no longer the case now, but I remember the old days where my SO and I were pretty much the only ones producing Chideon works (what a trip!) such as art, fic, RP, and cosplay — and even then, I limit myself because some character dynamics translated into a shipping context are uncomfortable or seem out of character to me, so while I may like My Favorite Character and This Other Character’s dynamic as canon shows it, as a ship if it makes me prickly then that’s that.**

**This paragraph isn’t meant to be read as hipster-posturing even though I’m sure it sounds that way, just facts as I know them based on my own searches for fanwork content. It’s hard to word without sounding vaguely obnoxious! Likewise, I’m not trying to suggest more popular ships or ones I don’t care for (separate points since I do sometimes enjoy more popular pairings) are objectively uninteresting! Just generally not my cups of tea. While subjectively we all have our preferences and dislikes, objectively there isn’t a wrong way to do the shipping thing.

So I guess thematically it’s true, there isn’t a lot on the surface to enforce a pattern! Although every now and then there are dynamics I find myself unable to resist time and time again. I fear clarifying my points with specific characters or ships might end up being alienating even if it helps get my point across clearer, so to be safe I’ll pick examples from a few different fandoms.
